water for the price of cotton

These images show the amount of water extracted by the notorious Cubby station in south western queeensland. This water is taken from the Darling river to irrigate cotton. As cotton is largely an export industry - the water is effectively sold overseas for the price of the cotton. The water is stolen from the Darling. There has been NO water past Wilcannia for almost 12 months.
Note the amount of water above and below the wier.
